Gala Aisle

This painting captures the peaceful beauty of the Gala Aisle, a historic building that is all that remains of the medieval church of St Mary’s of the Lowes. Later used as the burial aisle of the Pringle family of Gala, it has stood quietly in the Borders landscape for centuries.

I was drawn to the character of the old stonework, the surrounding wildflowers and the sense of calm that this special place inspires.
