‘Blooms of Belonging‘
The couple who commissioned this piece were married in the shadow of the iconic St Giles Cathedral, with their reception held at the majestic Edinburgh Castle, both of which rise proudly in the background like guardians of their story’s beginning.
Every detail has meaning—their cherished animals scattered through the garden, with Mum and Dad’s favourite pair taking pride of place on the path, exactly where they belong. Grandpa’s shed stands sentinel, the hens chatter along the fence as they always do, and a cheeky goat peeks out from the greenery. The vibrant wildflowers blooming in the foreground are carefully chosen, each one a favourite from their garden. And woven into the stone path: fragments of tartan. Her wedding dress tartan and his tartan troose have been delicately integrated into the steps leading to their home—a quiet nod to their union, their heritage, and the path they continue to walk together.
